Start & end

The silence is found in the source (its level before any gain); a little of it is kept at each end so the sound doesn't start abruptly. Fades are smooth (raised cosine) and work with or without removing silence. Both come after gain and limiter, so peaks only get lower; the “After” values are measured on the finished result — with long fades the loudness lands a little below the target.

Rename from tags

Sets the “Save as” names of the ticked files (or all) from their tags — before or after normalizing, as often as you like; edit tags under Metadata on a card. A tag a file doesn't have is left out together with the separator in front of it; if nothing is left, the name stays. Track numbers get two digits; “list no.” is the file's place in the list (↑/↓ on the cards); “random 4–6” gives each file its own random letters and digits (a–z, 0–9), new each time you apply. Own text works with or without tags — e.g. “Take {n}” or “{rnd5}_{title}”. A “/” makes folders in the ZIP, e.g. “{artist}/{album}/{track} {title}” — they replace the folders the files came in; a missing tag drops its folder level.
